What is the difference between highway dump trucks and non highway mining dump trucks?

  1. Use of venue and regulations
Highway type dump truck (engineering dump/dump truck)
-It is allowed to drive on public roads, with a motor vehicle license plate, and must meet national standards for size, weight, and emissions regulations
-Usage: Urban infrastructure, road construction, short distance transportation of waste soil and sand and gravel
-Vehicle speed: Maximum speed of 70-90km/h
Off road mining dump truck (mining truck)
-Prohibited from public roads, without license plates, only allowed to drive inside open-pit mines and large construction sites
-Purpose: Stripping soil from open-pit mines and transporting ores
-Low speed: generally up to 30-40 km/h
  2. Load capacity and size
    Highway self dumping
    -Common: 4 × 2, 6 × 4 (rear eight wheels), 8 × 4 (front four, rear eight)
-Rated load capacity: 5-30 tons; Due to weight restrictions on highways, the body size cannot exceed the width or height limit
    mining GPU
-Significantly increased load capacity: small mining trucks start at 30t, while large mining trucks can reach 100-400 tons
-The body is huge, the tires are oversized, and the width far exceeds the road limit, making it impossible to drive on the road
  3. Chassis, frame and structural design
    Highway self dumping
-Based on mature truck chassis modification, balancing road smoothness and construction site operations
-The strength of the frame and cargo compartment meets the engineering working conditions, and the lightweight control is strictly controlled (with over limit requirements)
    -Suspension: mainly steel plate springs
    mining GPU
-Special heavy-duty frame, overall heavy and fully reinforced design, resistant to impact and bumps
-The suspension is mostly oil and gas suspension, which absorbs the impact of large potholes in mines
-The cargo compartment is made of thick wear-resistant steel plate, which is resistant to the impact of large ore blocks, and the bottom is thickened
  4. Power system
    Highway self dumping
-Diesel engine, meeting National VI emission standards; Balancing power for high-speed driving and low-speed lifting
-Transmission: Multi speed manual/AMT, suitable for long-distance road driving
    mining GPU
-Large displacement diesel engines, some large tonnage engines use electric transmission (the engine drives the generator, and the motor drives the wheels)
-No need for high driving speed, focus on outputting huge torque to cope with heavy load climbing
  5. Tires
    Highway self dumping
-Ordinary radial tires with compliant dimensions, suitable for asphalt and cement road surfaces
    mining GPU
-Giant mine specific tires, with thick tire walls, cutting resistance, and high prices; Only suitable for gravel roads, not suitable for long-term highways
  6. Cost, lifespan, and maintenance
    Highway self dumping
-Low cost of purchasing a car; The popularity of accessories and the abundance of maintenance outlets; The overall lifespan of the vehicle is generally 5-8 years
-Core pain point: Strict control of overloading, no overloading allowed
    mining GPU
-The price is expensive, with one hundred ton mining truck costing several million yuan; Special accessories, high maintenance costs
-The working environment is harsh, with high-intensity operations in mines and high maintenance requirements
