1、 By driving road (core classification)
a. Highway dump truck (can be registered and driven on the road)
That is, what we often refer to as dump trucks and engineering dump trucks.
-Drive form: 4 × 2 (single axle), 6 × 4 (rear eight wheels), 8 × 4 (front four, rear eight)
-Load capacity: 5-30 tons
-Scenario: Transportation of urban debris, sand and gravel, infrastructure, and construction waste, in compliance with national standards and regulations.
b. Off road mining dump truck (mining truck, unable to access public roads)
Specially designed for large open-pit mines, with a huge size.
-Load capacity: 30-400 tons
-Features: Large tires, reinforced frame, low speed, no road speed limit requirements for tires.
c. Articulated dump truck (articulated mining truck)
The front of the car is connected to the frame of the cargo compartment using hinged hinges.
-Advantages: Good off-road performance, small turning radius, muddy, steep slopes, and soft terrain.
-Load capacity: 25-60 tons, mostly used in mines, tunnels, and swamp construction sites.
2、 According to the unloading direction
a. Backflip dump (mainstream in the market)
The cargo compartment tilts backwards for unloading; Sand and gravel, as well as excavated soil, are most commonly used on construction sites. Disadvantage: Unloading requires rear space.
b. Overturning and self dumping
Unload to the left/right side of the carriage; Suitable for roadbed paving, narrow working surfaces, highway stone pulling materials, and steel waste.
c. Bidirectional/three-way self dumping
It can be flipped back and left and right, with strong versatility; Higher cost and relatively less usage.
3、 By driving energy
a. Diesel dump truck: Traditional mainstream, powerful, and easy to replenish energy.
b. Pure electric dump truck: enclosed construction sites, mines, urban waste, low noise, no exhaust.
c. Hybrid dump truck: diesel+battery, heavy-duty mining, balancing range and energy efficiency.
4、 According to the cargo compartment structure
a. U-shaped bucket: with a curved inner wall, not easy to stick materials, preferred for slag and soil.
b. Rectangular bucket (square bucket): With high capacity utilization, it is suitable for sand, gravel, and stones.
c. Bucket type mining compartment: specially designed for heavy-duty mining trucks, with thickened wear-resistant steel plates.
5、 Segmented by purpose
-Engineering dump truck: earthwork, debris
-Mining dump truck: open-pit mine ore, stripped soil
-Agricultural dump truck: short distance transportation for farmland and rural areas
-Sanitation dump truck: garbage and waste transportation
