Low chassis semi-trailer: Key parameters and configuration overview

Low chassis semi-trailer (low flatbed semi-trailer) is a type of transportation equipment with a significantly lower ground clearance height than ordinary semi-trailer, specifically designed for the transportation of oversized, overweight, and non removable large goods such as construction machinery, mining equipment, transformers, and large components. The lower the cargo platform, the less likely the vehicle is to exceed the height limit after loading, the lower the center of gravity, and the more stable the driving.
1、 Core parameters
-Cargo platform height: The flat type is about 0.70.9m, the goose neck/detachable goose head can be lowered to 0.40.7m, and the concave beam ultra-low type is lower than 0.4m.
-Load capacity: commonly 30T, 50T, 60T, and heavy-duty models can reach 90-120T.
-Number of axles: 2-4 axles, the more axles there are, the greater the load capacity, but the larger the turning radius.
-Cargo platform size: commonly 9.613m in length and 2.53m in width, exceeding the width requires approval for exceeding the limit.
2、 Key configurations
-Frame: Made of high-strength steel (Q345/Q690), with light weight and heavy load capacity; I-beams or box beams, reinforced in the middle section to withstand concentrated loads.
-Gooseneck form: fixed, detachable, hydraulic lifting – hydraulic can further lower the loading platform.
-Suspension system: Air suspension (comfortable, adjustable lifting, cargo protection) and steel plate spring (load resistant, low cost) are optional, and hydraulic suspension shaft is commonly used for load distribution under heavy loads.
-Braking safety: disc brake (smooth braking) or drum brake (wear-resistant and economical), standard ABS/cut-off brake, heavy-duty equipped with deceleration device and GPS.
-Loading assistance: front/rear ladders, springboards, rope tighteners, and binding points to ensure safe loading, unloading, and fixation.
